20 vans arrived at Friars Court, Clanfield, hoping for a relaxing weekend by the river. Unfortunately, the weather had other ideas!
The ground was very wet when we arrived but all the vans were pitched – some with the help of the landowner’s tractor.
Some members enjoyed a few drinks at the local pub on the first evening when the rain stopped for a while.
Friday morning saw more rain and the river level was rising. Following a discussion with the owner, it was agreed that the meet should be abandoned. A few vans managed to drive off, but the majority had to have the assistance of the tractor.
It was such a shame as this is a beautiful venue for a relaxing time watching life on the River Thames – hopefully we will have better luck on our next visit.
