Rally Report – Old Warden

Old Warden Rally

The village hall provided a new rally venue for Chiltern group held 22nd to 24th March. Although a tight turn for those with longer vans the hard standing at the rear of the hall was a sensible choice for a March rally, in the end it remained dry for the whole weekend.  All of the 14 vans attending were Chiltern.

Friday evening we enjoyed a get together in the hall followed by quizzes.

Saturday morning saw Martin lead the main group on a mile walk to the Shuttleworth Collection and adjoining Swiss Garden, whilst others went for a cycle ride.

The Shuttleworth Collection contains vintage aircraft, motor vehicles, cycles and agricultural machinery housed in six large hangers and workshops. All the aircraft are kept airworthy and many have featured in films and TV programmes.

This years early spring ensured there was plenty of colour in the splendid Swiss Garden. I thoroughly enjoyed visiting both venues.

We again gathered in the hall on Saturday evening for one of Martin’s ‘hard’ quizzes followed by an ‘easier’ one and raffle.

Old Warden is a delightful village with much charm, in addition it has several circular walks that are well signposted and as such it is likely a rally will be held here again. A big thank you Noreen and Martin for their hard work making this a really enjoyable rally.
